Think again: the oldest university in the world is not Oxford or the Sorbonne, is the University of Al-Karaouine in Fez el Bali.

This walled city, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, will take you back to the Middle Ages. To discover the culture of this great city, or rather two cities, tempt fate by taking a taxi or go from one site to another on foot, the old quarters of the Medina riddled with mazes Fez el Bali and four majestic doors of Fes, with their distinctive Moroccan mosaics.

Visiting Fez amounts to a jump in the past, by getting lost in the winding streets of the medina, in the souks, the Andalusian quarter, admiring the smoothness of the Karaouyine mosque, among the great religious buildings of the Muslim world, or going around the fortifications of the city.

Middle Atlas Day: Ifrane-Azrou

Ifrane is a popular resort for its invigorating climate and its privileged location in the heart of the national park of the same name, inhabited by a numerous fauna. In summer this is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts (in Ifrane limestone plateau) and mountain biking; in winter, skiers are at the party on the slopes of Mischliffen and jbel Hebri (2104 m).

Ifrane wins its visitors thanks to its lakes also which are of unequal beauty. The most beautiful and most visited are: Dayet Oua, Lake afnounir, Dayet Hachlaf, dayet Ifrah, Oued Tizguite, Zerouka, Mersa Ain and Sidi mimoune ... which are home to rare species of birds.

Azrou is a small town located at 1,200 m above sea level, surrounded by a beautiful cedar forest (populated by monkeys) and with a small authentic medina Azrou is an ideal starting point for hiking in the Middle Atlas.

Day Meknès-Volubilis

Explore the ancient imperial city of Meknes, hailed as the Versailles of Morocco. See its historical attractions like the impressive ramparts, the monumental gates and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. At its peak of glory, Meknes had no less than 50 palaces, 20 doors and a city wall that measured along 45km.

Visit Volubilis with its impressive Roman ruins and well preserved, and its spectacular mosaics. The site of the UNESCO World Heritage is one of the most important Roman sites in North Africa.
